My magazine focuses on the genre of Grime which appeals to people from the sub-culture of young working class from all ethnicities.
The model on the front cover is represented as a young teenage girl wearing casual clothes, this sometimes is how females from the grime industry dress but mostly they wear lots of make-up and are dressed in dresses and high heels. I personally like the fact that my model has not followed this as I think it is easier for people from a particular social background will be able to relate to her better. I also did not want to follow this convention as I think if the model was dressed provocatively it would send out the wrong message to the audience. despite the fact that the model is dressed in quite casual clothes, her pose is very strong and fierce which steers away from the stereotype of women being sexy, instead this female is seen to be independent. I done this on purpose to bring out the attitude of this genre.
The above image is the image I used for my double page spread I used the same model because I think consistency across the product is part of the conventions. it also helps represent the type of audience my product will attract as I used a model who fits the social group of most of the target audience. However, some of the features which are on the front cover and contents page are quite masculine for example "Professor Green & Girls". to try and get a balance of both male and female readers I decided to use a female as my main model and i have also used red in the colour scheme this connotes love & romance so should help the magazine to appeal to a female audience as well. Grime is quite a masculine genre so I found it quite hard to include things that will appeal to a female audience.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The target audience for my music magazine is males and females, aged between 16-19 who listen to a variety of music but mostly R&B, Funky and grime.
For my magazine front cover I have used a young black female artist who has just made it in the industry at a young age (16).This will attract a young audience of males and females which is my target audience. I have used a few techniques to help my magazine appeal to this particular type of audience, for example the model I have used is wearing no make-up but she still is very beautiful representing a natural beauty. Also she has a very innocent look this shows individuality as most female and male stars that I have looked at have a sexual look, this could mean they re seen more as sex symbols rather that talented people. This
could help my magazine to appeal to a variety of young people of different backgrounds, personalities and style. i think i have not followed conventions of R&B magazines because with the ones i have looked at, most of the models used on the front will be very beautiful but mostly always have make-up and in my personal opinion look to good to be true.

picture that I used for my magazine front cover, the model has used a prop by taken her converse shoes off and placed them around her neck. R&B magazines use props but i think my model has used this prop to add that look of difference and individuality s it is a very random thing to do. it also shows a sense of "i don't care" she has taken her shoes off and tied them around her neck, this may relate to a particular of social group of young teenagers who in a way, conform when it listening to music but have that individuality and "i don't care" attitude. this is continued in my double page spread as the cover line is "its shaz babes" and the interview and features express a lot of how this person has really been. this is also expressed with the pictures i chose to use very sexy pictures that show a lot of attitude and another side of the model as i mentioned before with the picture i used on the front cover expresses innocence.
